One of two special editions (the other is number 46, on still images and sound recordings) of the IFLA publication International Preservation News, focussing on audiovisual archives. This issue concerns moving image archives. It includes a variety of articles, about projects, archives and general av preservation issues.

The range of subjects taken together, offer an interesting overview of activity in the domain for those not currently active in the field. The articles on video compression and the preservation of broadcast archives offers the most specific advice on the why and how of moving from analogue to digital audiovisual collections. The article about INA is a good case study on an archive’s approach to preservation planning.
