This deliverable presents a survey on “Golden Rules” for designing user-interfaces (chapter 3). From all studied models and rules nine User-Interface Principles (UIP) seem to form the “common denominator” (chapter 4). Thereupon the interfaces of all PrestoSpace prototypes are examined to find out to what extent they fulfil the nine UIPs (chapter 5 and 6). The author concludes that most of the tested user-interfaces fulfil the main design-rules.
This report, especially chapter 3 and 4, is a useful reference for AV-archives staff who wish to design retrieval and browsing interfaces to their online collections that will please the user.
